Georgia State University has revised its policies and procedures regarding international travel. In November 2013, it launched Georgia State University Travel; the new travel booking site. On March 5, 2014, Georgia State’s Admin. Council approved a new policy regarding the travel of employees to countries on the U.S. State Department’s Travel Warning List – “Policy on Travel to Countries with Travel Warnings”. This policy now incorporates guidance for travel by faculty and staff. These changes will impact how travel is registered and approved.
Registration for international emergency notification through the Office of International Initiatives (OII) is no longer required if booking travel through travel.gsu.edu. This is because International emergency notification fields have been incorporated into this new system. It is advised that travelers complete and update their travel profile in the system regularly. Additional approval is now required for international travel to countries where the U.S. State Department has issued a travel warning.
