International Summer Program to Explore Experience Discover

The Office of International Initiatives kicked off the summer with a Smoothie Social to celebrate over 150 students from the Georgia State University Summer Institute and Global Ambassador Program. This year, the Summer Institute is made up of international students from Turkey, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. The international students take classes at Georgia State and are partnered with a Global Ambassador Program student. Global Ambassador Program students serve as cultural liaisons between the Summer Institute’s international students, Georgia State and downtown Atlanta.

Program Dates – July 18 – August 1, 2017


Cultural Lectures

Interact with faculty and classmates as you explore four interactive lectures on topics such as art, music, intercultural communication, and contemporary social issues.


Explore cities and culture

Atlanta, Georgia

  • Local neighborhoods and museums
  • World of Coca-Cola and Georgia Aquarium

Pensacola, Florida

  • Three-day trip with fellow students and GSU staff
  • Cultural excursions, sightseeing, and Pensacola Beach


Housing and Meals

  • Stay in safe and modern on-campus housing at the University Commons. Each four-bedroom apartment includes a private bedroom and shared kitchen, living room, dining room, and bathroom. Amenities include free laundry, Wi-Fi, 24-hour security, study lounge, community lounge with TV, and shuttles to campus and nearby shopping.
  • Enjoy 10 meals at a buffet-style student dining hall while in Atlanta.


Program Cost: $1950

Includes program fee, housing, meal plan, and cultural excursions, including the Florida trip. Students are responsible for visa fees, airfare, and personal expenses in Atlanta and Florida.
