Mentoring Initiative for New Americans
Investing in New Americans
MINA provides mentoring support to refugee and immigrant young adults pursuing admission to college. The program matches college student leaders with these new Americans who work together to provide the academic and social support needed to pursue a college career.
College Mentorship
Our volunteer mentors are college students who guide and prepare refugee and immigrant “New American” students toward successfully applying for college.
English Proficiency
Our coaches interact with their assigned students and provide access to tools and resources that will improve their academic English and prepare them for college.
Cultural Networking
Our mentors serve as “cultural brokers” introducing New American students into the academic and professional worlds of their new home country.
If you are interested in becoming a mentor/coach or you are someone who needs guidance, feel free to read about us and complete our application.
